At State of Education Luncheon
Annual Event Sponsored by Fort Worth Chamber to Focus on
Preparing the Future Workforce
Fort Worth ISD Superintendent Dr. Kent Paredes Scribnerwill be a featured panelist as local leaders discuss preparing the current and future workforce today for tomorrow’s careers.
The Fort Worth Chamber’s State of Education event will be held at the PalmWood, Frost Tower on Wednesday, September 15. Lunch will be served at 11:30 a.m., followed by the panel discussion from 12:30 – 1:15 p.m. The theme for the discussion is “Education and the Rapidly Changing Needs of Businesses.”
Dr. Scribner will join the following panelists, who represent education and business:
- Commissioner of Higher Education for the State of Texas Dr. Harrison Keller
- Chief Diversity Officer of Elevate Dion Harrison
- Director of Talent Development of Elbit Systems of America Lisa Northup
The panel will be moderated by Daniel Pullin, the John V. Roach Dean of the Neeley School of Business at TCU.
This year’s theme and discussion topics are a follow-up to last year’s virtual meetings between Fort Worth ISD and local business partners. This year’s in-person discussion will allow panelists to take a deeper dive about meeting the challenges that educators and business leaders face in preparing a homegrown workforce.
Topics will include the continued impact of COVID-19; training our existing workforce to remain competitive; equipping students with “soft skills” in addition to specific industry training; and keeping pace with changing technological requirements. Panelists will explain the role their organizations play in workforce preparation and training, and they will discuss how they can collaborate to ensure Fort Worth maintains a vibrant local economy.
