Sponsorship Supports Two FWISD Campus Food Pantries
Two Fort Worth ISD campus food pantries are being funded this school year, thanks to a generous gift.
SodexoMAGIC, in partnership with the Fort Worth ISD, is providing a $50,000 sponsorship to Tarrant Area Food Bank (TAFB) that will support two campus food pantries throughout the 2019-2020 school year. TAFB will select the two schools benefitting from the sponsorship.
On Thursday, October 17, Superintendent Kent P. Scribner, SodexoMAGIC and TAFB representatives gathered at the food bank’s distribution center to make the sponsorship official. While there, Dr. Scribner received a tour of the TAFB facilities.
Others in attendance included: Jonathan Garcia, vice president of operations for SodexoMAGIC; Stephen J.C. Raeside, TAFB senior director of development; Eric Bankhead, resident district manager of child nutrition services for SodexoMAGIC; Leonor Wilford, executive chef for SodexoMAGIC; Charles Boswell TAFB associate executive director; Bo Soderbergh, TAFB executive director; Kiara Walton, field marketing coordinator for SodexoMAGIC; Allan Collins, vice president of operations for SodexoMAGIC in Texas and Jennifer Burton, TAFB director of corporate management.
SodexoMAGIC officials say the sponsorship not only benefits hungry students, but their entire families.
Weekly, TAFB provides 600,000 nutritious meals to the community. Each $1 contribution supports five meals. With the $50,000 sponsorship, that equates to 250,000 easily accessible nutritious meals for families on two FWISD campuses.
“TAFB is pleased to have the support of FWISD and Sodexo Magic because they recognize the crucial role child nutrition plays in education outcomes,” said Ms. Burton, TAFB director of corporate management.

Earlier this year, the FWISD Board of Education awarded a contract to SodexoMAGIC to manage the District’s child nutrition services for the 2019-2020 school year.
