FWISD Earns National Empowered Seal Designation
The Fort Worth ISD, for a second straight year, is a national Empowered Seal designation recipient.
FWISD is among only 15 school districts in Texas, eight in the Dallas-Fort Worth region and fewer than 6% of K-12 districts in North America receiving the designation given by digital education organization EVERFI. EVERFI learning resources, offering real-world skills lessons, are underwritten by local and national organizations and are available for teacher use in classrooms at no cost. Resources cover skills in social-emotional learning, digital literacy, finances, health, wellness, college and career readiness.
A recognition of school districts that exhibit exemplary commitment to the whole-child education, the Empowered Seal designation acknowledges districts that have used evidence-informed EVERFI resources to provide students with a well-rounded education.
EVERFI looks at five indicators to determine Empowered Seal winners:
- Efficacy-based programs
- Well-trained staff
- Appropriate placement
- Sufficient reach
- Outcomes evaluated
Since 2018, 36,546 FWISD students have utilized EVERFI’s life skills resources, with social-emotional learning, STEM and career readiness, and financial education being among the most used products. Annually since 2018, more than 100 FWISD teachers have used EVERFI resources in their classrooms. Currently, FWISD uses 26 EVERFI programs in 69 schools, reaching more than 10,000 students.
