GM Financial Parade Of Lights Celebrates Three FWISD Teachers As Hometown Heroes
(Monday, November 23, 2020) -- Three Fort Worth ISD teachers were recognized as hometown heroes over the weekend at the 38th edition of the GM Financial Parade of Lights.
This year’s virtual parade theme is “Hope and Joy for the Holidays” and celebrated essential workers, first responders, teachers, front-line utility workers, restaurant owners and chefs. The Parade of Lights is the Fort Worth kickoff to the holiday season.
The event celebrated FWISD teachers:
- Sendy Casas, Cesar Chavez Elementary
- Tim Brendler, I.M. Terrell Academy for STEM and VPA
- Nettie Scott, Glencrest 6th
The event will re-broadcast Christmas Eve on TXA-21 and is available on-demand through January 2 on Downtown Fort Worth’s YouTube channel and the Parade of Lights Facebook page.
Signature floats, musical artists and entertainers pre-recorded at locations around downtown Fort Worth made up this year’s lineup.
There are no in-person areas to view this 2020 parade. However, parade organizers will treat the public to a socially distanced Downtown Showcase of Floats, today, November 23 and Tuesday, November 24 from 6 to 8 p.m. on Main Street. The public will have opportunities to take social distanced photos with the floats. Throughout the duration of the showcase, Main Street from First to Ninth streets will be closed to vehicular traffic.
