FWISD Severe Weather Plan
(January 10, 2020) --The National Weather Service anticipates the possibility of severe weather in the Fort Worth area later today. Unless determined later, all Fort Worth ISD activities remain on schedule. However, the Safety and Security Department is closely monitoring weather conditions for possible changes.
Currently, Tarrant County remains under a Flash Flood Watch until 3 a.m. Saturday morning. Severe weather, meanwhile, could develop in the 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. timeframe on Friday.
All campuses have been advised to monitor the NOAA Weather Radio, local forecasters and the Safety and Security Department primary radio channel.
The Fort Worth ISD is not planning to release students early. It is possible that school releases could be delayed for short periods if severe weather is active at that time.
Late afternoon and evening athletic events are still scheduled as planned. The District’s Incident Command Team will monitor weather developments throughout the remainder of the day and make event changes, if necessary.
