Dr. Artis M. Royal

Assistant Principal

After four degrees, and 20 years of executive nonprofit leadership in GA, NY, and TN, Dr. Royal has taught in various settings at the public, graduate, and collegiate levels.

One of his sources of great pride is rooted in the fact that he is a “Chap-Cat”: a proud graduate of Wyatt High School and serves the Wildcat Nation.  The South Side of Fort Worth is home.

Having served in the DISD and FWISD, he has taught, been a department chair, and coached football and basketball.

Selected by the district to participate in the Sid Richardson School Leadership cohort at TCU in 2018, he completed a year of internship at Dunbar while enrolled in school full-time.  After graduating with a 3.76 GPA, he was asked to return as a part of the leadership team.

His ultimate goal is to strive every day to move, “onward and upward towards the light.”
