Nurses Corner
Dear Parents/Guardians:
Cold and flu season is upon us.
Therefore, in an effort to prevent the spread and control of communicable diseases, please use the following criteria to decide when to keep your child home from school:
- Fever 100.0 F or greater
- Body aches
- Chills
- Congested (wet) cough
- Lots of nasal congestion with frequent blowing
- Sore throat
- Severe Headache
- Rash
- Shortness of Breath
- Difficulty breathing
- Nausea/Vomiting/Diarrhea
To help prevent the flu and other colds, teach your children good hygiene habits:
- Wash hands frequently
- Do not touch their eyes, nose or mouth
- Cover their mouth and nose when sneezing or coughing (coughing or sneezing into their bent elbow, not their hands)
- Avoid close contact with people who are sick
Students may not return to school until they are fever free for 24 hours without the use of fever-suppressing medication. If the fever persists for more than two days or symptoms become worse, please consult your health care provider.
Have a wonderful, safe, and healthy weekend.
Nurse Trista
