KIDS HOPE ~ Arborlawn UMC
KIDS HOPE USA
A team of Arborlawn members volunteer as mentors to students at Fort Worth’s J. T. Stevens Elementary through the national organization Kids Hope USA. Mentoring takes only one hour each week, and the positive changes made in both the kids and the adults is beyond measure.
Mentors undergo a one-day training program that equips them to provide the most quality experience to the children.

He is going to soar!
My student and I have built a successful relationship, and each week we look forward to Thursday. He is focused, and realizes he is moving forward with his abilities. Writing has definitely been an asset. Each week he is able to build his phonics practice to write sentences that he takes pride in reading to me.
We briefly share what is going on in our lives, and talk about our families. The best reward was when he said, “My mom said to thank you for coming to help me”. He is going to soar! I am proud to be a Read2Win Coach, come to J.T. Stevens, and work with my student. -
Student Breakthrough
Reading with my Read2Win student each Monday has been a highlight of my week. The curriculum is engaging and fun for the student, and I have loved watching his confidence grow. Right before winter break, he had a huge breakthrough in his reading skills and he is not looking back!
Read2Win met my student where he was and gently challenged him each week to build his skills, without overwhelming and shutting him down. I am confident that by the end of the year, he will be on grade level with his reading skills.
