Mission Statement

The Future Business Leaders of America inspires and prepares students to become community-minded business leaders in a global society through relevant career preparation and leadership experiences. Students will develop career portfolios, enhance their knowledge with world-recognized skills certifications, and have access to select college scholarships. 

Goals

* To develop essential soft skills by networking with accomplished business professionals and by participating in business-focused workshops, seminars, and academic competitions.

* To help others in the community by working with the March of Dimes to help end premature births by participating in awareness campaigns and the March for Babies fundraiser. 

* To build a portfolio of accomplishments for each student with a wide range of awards programs. 

FBLA is Going to State!!

This past Saturday my FBLA students attended an Area 7 Competition at Central High School in Keller.  The following students placed in the top 4 and will be attending State Competition at Galveston in March.

Angelina Dominguez – 3^rd place - Hospitality Management

Jose Sanchez – 2^nd place - Economics

Virginia Calvillo – 3^rd place - Intro to Public Speaking

Lizbeth Aguero – 1^st place - Word Processing

Sebastian Flores – 3^rd place - Business Communications

Neveah Mendiola – 5^th place - Journalism (alternate)

If you see these students, please congratulate them. 

North Side hosted a Food Truck Throw Down event sponsored by EverFi and TPG.  36 business students took part in creating a food truck, business name, budgeting, creating a menu, location, potential customers, and what would be the most popular item.  Six teams competed against each other with the help of TPG volunteers.  They were then judged by TPG volunteers for 1^st and 2^nd place. 

The North Side FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America) chapter is partnering with the March of Dimes to help raise awareness and funds to support families and save babies’ lives.

FBLA students will have a purple March of Dimes bucket that they will be collecting change with.  At the end of the month we will donate these funds to the March of Dimes.  This money will go to help fight premature birth, which is the #1 killer of babies, and honoring the 15 million babies worldwide who are born too soon every year. 

Last year North Side donated $300 to this wonderful cause.  Let’s try to do the same this year and donate a little extra.  All it takes is your pocket change.

Sergio De Leon, Justice of the Peace, Precinct 5 saw our FBLA picture on FB and wanted to make a donation to our club for advancing to State competition.  He presented us with a donation and spoke with the students about his career as a judge and how he was in FBLA as a high school student in Arkansas. 

Please congratulate the following students who competed in FBLA Area Competition.  They all placed in the top 5 for each category and will advance to State competition in Houston in March.

They all worked very hard to place in Area, and now will need to work even harder to place at State to go to Nationals.
