What is a Collegiate Academy?
The collegiate academies are housed on campuses that can be found where you live and
are open to everyone through the application process. This type of campus offers UIL
activities, as well as the opportunity to earn an associate degree or up to 60 college-credit
hours, tuition-free, while at the same time earning a high school diploma.What is an ECHS?
The Early College High School (ECHS) initiative is an open-enrollment program that blends
college and high school coursework, enabling students to earn up to two years of college
credit (60 hours), tuition-free, while enrolled in high school.What is a P-TECH?
This innovative program merges the best of high school, college, and the professional
world. The goal of Pathways in Technology Early College High School (P-TECH) is for
students to graduate with 60+ hours of transferable college credit, tuition-free. Students
have the opportunity to earn a two-year associate degree along with their high school
diploma. Through internships and apprenticeships, students may earn credentials such as
licenses and certificates aligned to their chosen pathway.

AP Capstone Academy
WHAT IS IT?
AP Capstone is a diploma program from College Board that equips students with the independent research, collaborative teamwork, and communication skills that are increasingly valued by colleges. AP Capstone is built on the foundation of two AP courses – AP Seminar and AP Research – that complement other AP courses.
WHAT CAN YOU GET?
Students who earn scores of 3 or higher in AP Seminar and AP Research, and on four additional exams of their choosing, will receive the AP Capstone Diploma.

Early College High School (ECHS)
School of Choice ECHS/P-TECH
The goal of Early College High Schools (ECHS) is to graduate with 60+ hours of transferable college credit. Students have the opportunity to earn a two-year associate degree along with their high school diploma –tuition free – saving families thousands of dollars in college costs.
ECHS/P-TECH provides a small, personalized community offering
a rigorous college preparatory curriculum that engages
students as it prepares them for high-skilled and high-demand
careers.
Although many high schools across the nation offer
concurrent and dual-enrollment opportunities, those
programs traditionally serve the highest-achieving
students of their class. The ECHS/P-TECH programs will target
all students entering the ninth grade. Priority is given to
students from traditionally underrepresented student
groups as identified by the Texas Education Agency ECHS and
P-TECH Blueprint – Benchmark 1.
Students assigned to an ECHS are required to attend a
summer bridge program and submit evidence of being
immunized against bacterial meningitis.

Program of Choice Collegiate Academy P-TECH
Students have the opportunity to earn an associate degree
along with their high school diploma – tuition free – in
what is considered a “school within a school.” Students
enjoy a traditional high school campus with access to
traditional high school offerings, including UIL athletics
and activities.
In addition to the opportunities offered through Early
College High School, P-TECH Collegiate Academies provide
work-based learning experiences at every grade level by
establishing agreements with industry partners. Through
internships and apprenticeships, students may earn
credentials such as licenses and certificates aligned to their
chosen pathway.
Opportunities available to students participating in a
P-TECH Collegiate Academy:
1. Students will learn employment and career
expectations firsthand through relationships forged
with industry partners.
2. Students will earn both college hours and industry
certifications in their chosen P-TECH pathway.
3. Students will visit industry partner jobsites and have industry representatives as guest speakers.

I.M. TERRELL ACADEMY FOR STEM & VPA
WHAT IS IT?The I.M. Terrell Academy for STEM & VPA provides a technology-based
blended learning environment that is focused on students with an intense interest
in engineering and computer science careers. This campus also serves as a STEM
Academy (Texas Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics), which provides
foundational principles and standards for innovative partnerships with colleges,
universities, and industry.

Benefits of attending an ECHS/P-TECH Campus or Academy
There is no cost to earn college credit or an associate degree. This completely free. Tuition and books a covered.
Students that graduate from an ECHS/P-TECH with an associate's are more likely to move on to a four year university and earn a bachelors degree.
The ECHS/P-TECH Schools of Choice offer smaller learning communities with academic supports.
These opportunities are open to all students. There are no prerequisites required to apply for these programs.
