World Languages Institute
6th - 12th Grade
- All WLI courses are advanced. Only Honors, Accelerated, Advanced Placement, Dual Enrollment/OnRamps and Dual Credit courses are offered and taught by highly qualified teachers. AVID program available.
- Academic courses are taught in both Spanish and English. Bilingual/multilingual students have the opportunity to begin the study of a third or fourth language. Options include American Sign Language (ASL), Chinese (Mandarin), French, German, and Japanese. Students take Spanish and their third language to the AP level.
- Strong partnership with Sister Cities gives the opportunity for students to travel internationally or host students from other countries.
- WLI also offers CTE tracks such as Computer Science and Business with opportunities for industry-based certifications and AP courses.
- We host an award-winning Fine Arts Department, including Estudiantina, Theatre and Visual Arts.
- Students may participate in a variety of after school clubs, including: Battle of the Books Club, Debate Club, Future Business Leaders of America, Girl Scouts, International Club, Robotics Club, Royal Blue (WLI Newsletter), Soccer Club, Table Top Gaming Club, UIL Academics, Whiz Quiz (MS&HS), Yearbook and others. Lots of opportunities for parental involvement.
- Students have the opportunity to earn the State Seal of Bilingualism/Biliteracy as well as to join Honor Societies and be part of the Congressional Award community program.
- Our school has been recognized by the National Center for Urban School Transformation as one of America’s Best Urban School (Silver Award recipient). We have achieved a rating of “A” with the Texas Education Agency.
- Our students have achieved: 100% Algebra I STAAR Passing Rate, 100% AP Spanish Literature Passing Rate.
