      • Why does the ballot say this is a property tax increase?

        Posted by:

A new state law requires all school district bond referendum ballots to be printed with “This is a property tax increase.” While this is legally required language, the Fort Worth ISD bond referendum WILL NOT increase your property tax rate.

      • When would the District be able to access funds if the bond referenda is approved by voters?

        Posted by:

Upon approval by the voters, the timing of future bond sales becomes a decision of the Board of Trustees.  We anticipate that in the Spring of 2022, subject to Board approval, the first bond sale would occur.

      • Can other District funding sources be used to pay for components of the proposed bond?

        Posted by:

There are no other available funding sources to pay for components of the proposed bond. Bond propositions are the means provided in state law for school districts to finance major upgrades to school buildings and other facilities.

      • How will the $1.49 billion in debt be serviced without a property tax rate increase?

        Posted by:

The financing plan for the proposed bond propositions is based on normal scheduled principal reductions, record low interest rates, and timing and amount of future bond sales over a five year period.  There is no proposed increase to the Interest and Sinking Fund property tax rate.

A commitment to Environmental Stewardship is one of the guiding principles of the FWISD Long Range Facilities Master Plan. Energy efficiency has been a critical design component in past programs, 2021 will be no different. The FWISD Sustainability Committee will review and advise on project standards.

      • Where will the three football fields/athletic centers be located?

        Posted by:

The goal is to take a regional approach to the stadium/gym complexes, so that all communities have access to the facilities without going too far from their neighborhood. It's likely that one will be built in west Fort Worth (outside loop 820) and another on the north side - both on property that the District already owns. The third stadium is at a location still to be determined.
