Anael Luebanos, Board Secretary - District 8
-
Term:
First elected 2017; Term expires 2025Born in Fort Worth, Anael moved with his family to rural Mexico as a child. There he was raised on the family farm.
His parents knew that he would have more opportunities in the United States. So a 15-year old Anael took the bus to Fort Worth to live with relatives. He enrolled at Paschal High School and had to learn English fast. A group of excellent and patient teachers helped him to gain English proficiency.
When he wasn't studying with his Spanish to English dictionary and his textbooks, young Anael had to work full time to support himself. He rose from sacking groceries, to the position of Manager at the Fiesta Grocery Store on 8th Ave. The hard work paid off as he was able to graduate with honors from Paschal High School. He attended Texas Wesleyan University, where he received his Bachelor's degree and his MBA.
A product of Paschal High School and proof positive that our public schools work.
Anael married his high school sweetheart, Anahi, and looked for ways to give back to the community. Given private sector opportunities, he chose instead to work at the Lighthouse for the Blind of Fort Worth, a local nonprofit serving the blind community of Fort Worth and Tarrant County. As an accountant, he balances the books. As a community leader, he finds ways to make a difference.
He works tirelessly with several organizations to raise many tens of thousands of dollars in scholarships for local students. He also served five years as the President of one of the largest nonprofits in Fort Worth – the Federacion de Clubes Zacatecanos de Fort Worth. He serves on an advisory committee for the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo, the Kimbell Museum, among other organizations and has also served on the FWISD Audit Advisory Committee.
Anael Luebanos has lived the American dream, but his success has not been measured by wealth and fame, rather by the number of people he has helped, and the positive impact he has made for our community.
Focused on education, not politics and an example of honorable public service.
Anael wanted to do even more for the community so he decided to offer himself for public service on the Fort Worth Independent School District Board of Education.
On May 6th, 2017, Anael Luebanos was elected to the Fort Worth Independent School District Board of Education in District 8 with more than 58% of the popular vote in District 8, which includes parts of west and large parts of South Fort Worth.
His hard work paid off and he has become a positive role model for so many of our FWISD children.
