COLLEGIATE PROGRAMMING

  •

Collegiate Programming provides students with Post-Secondary options to increase their college and career readiness.  Our team focuses on providing options that fit student needs and desires to prepare for the future!

Through our AP classes, AVID programs, Dual Credit, SAT/ACT Test Prep and a host of other options, Collegiate Programming provides a jump-start for high school students. The Fort Worth ISD is committed to recognizing the high abilities of students, elementary through secondary, and assisting them to reach their full academic potential.

OVERVIEW

  •

    ADVANCED PLACEMENT

AP courses are offered at all high school sites. As the Advanced Placement program in Fort Worth continues to expand, the programs of choice coordinators work with their high schools’ Advanced Placement teachers to ensure that each course fits the framework of a college course.

    AVID

The mission of AVID, Advancement Via Individual Determination, is to ensure that all students, and most especially the least served students who are in the middle will: succeed in rigorous curriculum, complete a rigorous college preparatory path, enter mainstream activities of the school, and become educated and responsible participants and leaders in a democratic society.

    DUAL CREDIT

Dual Credit students take college-level courses taught by fully credentialed TCC faculty. These courses satisfy high school graduation requirements and provide college credit at the same time.

Fort Worth ISD will award high school academic credit for approved courses. TCC will award college-level academic credit.

    PSAT 8, PSAT AND SAT

Fort Worth ISD offers PSAT 8 to all 8th graders, PSAT to all 10th graders for AP Potential, PSAT/NMSQT to all 11th graders to qualify for college scholarships, and SAT school day testing for all 11th graders.

Fort Worth ISD offers Summer PSAT/SAT Preparation Courses.  Courses help students raise test scores, win scholarships, and gain entry to the college of their choice.

    KHAN ACADEMY

Khan Academy is a free, online resource that offers video tutorials on a wide variety of subjects, including SAT prep. The resources they offer are video tutorials, personalized study recommendations, practice questions, quizzes, and eight full-length practice exams (which are also available on the College Board’s website). These resources were designed to help students identify the areas they need to improve on and give them targeted practice based on those recommendations.

Because Khan Academy developed these resources with the College Board, you can be sure they are an accurate representation of what the actual SAT will cover.

    ACT

Fort Worth ISD offers the ACT to all 11th graders to qualify students for college admission, institutional aid, and scholarships. If needed, students may retake the ACT following test preparation in order to increase their scores. Test preparation is important before and after each test administration. Improving a score by even 1 point on the ACT can significantly boost students’ chances of admission into their choice schools.

Fort Worth ISD also offers ACT preparation courses during the school year. In addition, students enjoy the opportunity to participate in year-round, self-paced, personalized test prep via ACT Academy.

    ACT ACADEMY

ACT Academy™ is a free online learning tool and test practice program designed to help you get the best score possible on the ACT test,
and well on your way to college and career success.

Through video lessons, interactive practice questions, full-length practice tests, educational games, and other materials targeted to your academic needs, ACT Academy provides you with a personalized study plan based on your previous scores from:
