Davon Carey joined the Class of 2024 cohort in the fall of 2022 with only 2.5 credits. From the beginning, Davon expressed his determination to get on the track to success. He diligently worked on improving his grades, attendance, and completing his Edgenuity courses to catch up. Despite a packed schedule, he also found time to participate in sports, demonstrating his commitment to personal growth and school spirit. Starting this year as an 11th grader, Davon continued his hard work and will proudly graduate with his class on June 2. Known for his respectfulness, impeccable attendance, humility, and kindness, Davon exemplifies the transformative power of dedication and perseverance.

Karla Gaytan

Karla Gaytan has been an exceptional student-athlete, participating in nearly every sport offered at Amon Carter-Riverside. She qualified for regionals in golf, earned honorable mention and academic all-district honors in basketball, and won medals in tennis. Karla also competed in the Area track meet in hurdles and the 1600m run, played JV volleyball, and varsity soccer, and is awaiting awards for flag football. Her athletic versatility and dedication have been truly remarkable. In addition to her athletic accomplishments, Karla has earned a full scholarship to Texas Wesleyan University, a testament to her hard work both on and off the field.
