• Western Hills High School Celebrates the Exceptional Achievements of Mya Mendez

    Mya is a senior who has excelled academically and demonstrated
    outstanding leadership throughout her high school career!

     

    Mya Mendez is the Valedictorian of the Western Hills Class of 2024, a testament to her dedication and hard work. She has completed an Associates of Arts Degree with the highest honors, maintaining a perfect 4.0 GPA. Mya's academic excellence has been recognized with numerous awards, including the prestigious 2024 Ann Brannon Award for Outstanding Achievement in English.

    Mya has also excelled in UIL Academic Competitions, securing 1st place in Copy Editing for the 2024 UIL Academic District Competition and 1st place in Ready Writing for both 2023 and 2024. Her achievements are further highlighted by receiving the WHHS Academic Sweatshirt in 2023, the Ann Brannon Award for Outstanding Academic Achievement in 2022, and the Ann Brannon Award for Outstanding Achievement in World Geography in 2021.

    As a College Board National Hispanic Scholar and a Superintendent Scholar, Mya has demonstrated her commitment to academic excellence. She has also been enrolled in the Gold Seals Program of Choice and excelled as an On Ramps Honor Student.

    In addition to her academic accomplishments, Mya is an active member of the National Art Honor Society and United Voices for Change. Her leadership skills are evident in her role as a Student Council Officer, where she has contributed to the betterment of the school community.
